“He is the King, and He will Reign Forevermore” (Part 1)  3/22/2021

Bible Reading:  Matthew 2:1 - 12

Today’s Bible reading relates the famous story of the three wise men. They saw the star in the East, followed it to Jerusalem, and arrived on the doorstep of Herod the King. They recognized that Jesus was the King of the Jews, acknowledged that they had seen His star in the East, and stated that they were on their way to worship Him. They asked Herod where to find Him. After leaving Herod, they again followed the star, found Jesus and His mother, fell down, worshiped Him, and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. God warned them in a dream not to return to Herod, and so they took an alternate route back home.

Today’s Story

It was the Christmas season at the Tice’s. We were sitting in our living room watching a Christmas pageant on TV. As the children presented their gifts to the Baby Jesus, The Holy Spirit spoke to my spirit. He impressed upon me the eternal nature of Christ’s Kingdom. The baby in the manger is eternally the King. From this, a song was birthed. The title is “He is the King, and He will reign Forevermore.” Over the course of several years, the Lord would bring music and other phrases to my spirit until the song was complete. It is essentially a review of Jesus’s life. Here is the first verse:

VERSE 1:

He was King when He lay in a manger. He was King when He hung on the tree. He’s the Lord of the heavens and Lord of my life. He is the King, and He will reign forevermore.

Verses to Ponder: Matthew 6:9 -10

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

 Join me in Prayer Today:

Dear Lord Jesus, Please let me pray this with true sincerity of heart: Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done. On Earth, as it is in Heaven.

Bible Reading: Luke 2: 1-20

Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the angelic announcement to the shepherds of the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Today’s Story: Just as the story of the life of Jesus continued to unfold in the Gospels, the story of His life continued to unfold in the song that the Lord was giving to me. Here is the first chorus:

CHORUS 1:

And the heavens resound with His glory,

And the earth echoes back with His praise.

“All glory to God in the highest. Peace on Earth.”

 His anthem we raise.

 Verse to Ponder: Luke 2:20

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Invitation to Worship: (To be sung to the tune of “Alleluia”)

Join the angels. They are singing.

Join the angels. They are singing.

Join the angels. They are singing.

“Alleluia to the King.”

Bible Reading: Matthew 26:36 - 46                                                                                                                                                                                                Today’s Bible reading tells the story of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed to the Lord three times that He might be spared drinking of the cup of suffering, and yet, He submitted to the will of the Father. Being God and being omniscient, He knew what the cup would entail, a humiliating trial followed by an ignominious and painful death on the cross. All this, He suffered willingly to obtain our salvation

Today’s Story: Just as the story of the life of Jesus continued to unfold in the Gospels, the story of His life continued to unfold in the song that the Lord was giving to me.

Here is VERSE 2, followed by CHORUS 1:

VERSE 2:

He was King when He prayed in the garden, “

Not My will, but Your will must be done.”

He learned obedience by suff’ring for us,

Although He was God’s one and only perfect Son.

CHORUS 1:

And the heavens resound with His glory,

And the Earth echoes back with His praise.

“All glory to God in the highest.

Peace on Earth.”  His anthem we raise.

 Verse to Ponder: Matthew 26:42

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Join me in Prayer Today:

Dear Lord Jesus, Although I have my own desires and plans for my life, Let me always defer to yours, as our Lord did in the Garden. Let me always pray with a sincere heart, “Not my will, but Your will must be done.”

4/12/2O21

Bible Reading: John 18: 28 - 19:24                                                                                                                                                                    Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the trial of Jesus before Pilate, having first been brought to Caiphas, the High Priest. The passage relates that Jesus was scourged (beaten severely) and then crucified. Pilate had arranged for the words, “Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews,” to be written as a title on the cross. Even though there was some objection, Pilate said that he had already written the title, and it would remain. The soldiers fulfilled the Scripture which had been written about His clothing, “They parted My raiment among them, and for My vesture they did cast lots.”

Today’s Story: Just as the story of the life of Jesus continued to unfold in the Gospels, the story of His life continued to unfold in the song that the Lord was giving to me. Here is

VERSE 3, followed by CHORUS 1

VERSE 3:

He was King when He stood before Pilate.

In the Judgment hall He was tried,

And He bore the stripes so that we might be healed,

And for our sins the Lamb of God was crucified.

 CHORUS 1:

And the heavens resound with His glory,

And the Earth echoes back with His praise.

“All glory to God in the highest. Peace on Earth.”

His anthem we raise.

 Verses to Ponder: I Peter 2:21 - 24

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Join me in Prayer Today:

Dear Lord Jesus, Let me follow in Your footsteps. You suffered for me meekly, although You were innocent of any wrong. Let me remember the words of Paul who wrote, “If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him…” II Timothy 2:12 I love You, my King.

4/19/2o21“He is the King, and He will Reign Forevermore” (Part 5)

 Bible Reading: Matthew 27:23 - 50

Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the crucifixion of Jesus. He suffered great pain and tremendous humiliation, as well. All this He endured so that those who would receive Him might find salvation.

Today’s Story: Just as the story of the life of Jesus continued to unfold in the Gospels, the story of His life continued to unfold in the song that the Lord was giving to me. Here is VERSE 4, followed by CHORUS 1

VERSE 4:  He was King when He hung on Mt. Calv’ry

As His blood stained the Old Rugged Cross.

“He was despised and rejected, acquainted with grief,”

And for our peace, He paid the great and final cost.

  CHORUS 1:

And the heavens resound with His glory,

And the Earth echoes back with His praise. “

All glory to God in the highest.

Peace on Earth.” His anthem we raise.

 Verses to Ponder:  John 1:11 - 14

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Join me in Prayer Today:

Dear Lord Jesus, may I sing with the songwriter, William E Booth-Clibborn, “O how I love Him! How I adore Him! My breath, my sunshine, My all in all. The great Creator became my Savior, And all God’s fulness dwelleth in Him.”

“He is the King, and He will Reign Forevermore” (Part 6)    Bible Reading: Mark 16: 1 - 7                                                                                                                                                                                           Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the discovery of the resurrection by women who had come to anoint the body of Jesus and were questioning how the stone would be rolled away. They discovered that the stone had been rolled away already. As they entered the sepulchre, they saw a sight which frightened them. It was a young man, wearing a long white garment. The words of the song tell the message He gave them. Today’s Story Here is VERSE 5, followed by CHORUS 1: VERSE 5:  He was King when the angel told Mary, “He’s not here. He has ris’n from the dead,  And He goes before you into Galilee.   There you shall see Him, just as He has said.”   CHORUS 1:  And the heavens resound with His glory, And the Earth echoes back with His praise. “All glory to God in the highest. Peace on Earth.” His anthem we raise.                                                                                              Verses to Ponder: Mark16:9 and Luke 7:36 - 50      Mark16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Join me in Prayer Today:                                                                                                     Dear Lord Jesus, May we be like Mary Magdalene, devoted to you, so that You can appear unto us. May we realize in our lives the truth of the saying, “He who is forgiven much loveth much” as did the woman who anointed the feet of Jesus with costly ointment, washed his feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.

“He is the King, and He will Reign Forevermore” (Part 7)    5/3/2021

Bible Reading:  Acts 1:9 - 11

Today’s Bible reading tells the story of the ascension of Jesus into heaven. What other religion can claim that? Truly, as the centurion acknowledged at His crucifixion, “… truly this man was the son of God.” (Mark 15:39) Those who believe know that He was the “only begotten of the Father.” (John 1:12 – 14)

Today’s Story

Here is VERSE 6, followed by CHORUS 1

VERSE 6:

He was King when He ascended to heaven,

As the cloud took Him out of their sight.

And the angels said, “Why stand you gazing to heaven?”

Just as He said, He’s coming back in glorious light.

CHORUS 1:

And the heavens resound with His glory,

And the Earth echoes back with His praise.

“All glory to God in the highest.

Peace on Earth.” His anthem we raise.

Verse to Ponder: Revelation 22:20

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Join me in Prayer Today:

Dear Lord Jesus, Come quickly. We await Your return with great anticipation and longing. In the meantime, let us bring as many souls along with us as we can, for that is Your great desire. Let our friends and our enemies find You. We know that You, God, “… are not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:9)

Living in the kingdom Part 1

5/10/2021

“I’m Living in the Kingdom” (Part 1)

It was time for Queen Camp, an amazing women’s conference with Rev. Sandi Querin as the royal hostess. There are hours of worship, teaching, and prayer. All of this is focused on being a queen in the presence of King Jesus. In preparation, the participants are asked to read a Scripture passage. One year, the passage was Colossians 1. In verse 13 we read, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.”

As I read these words, the Holy Spirit began to sing and impart these words to my spirit, “I’ve been translated. I’ve been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light. I’m living in the Kingdom. I’m living in the Kingdom. I’m living in the Kingdom of the Son of God.” As I continued to listen, the benefits of the Kingdom began to reveal themselves in verse after verse of other portions of Scripture.

STORY AND THE SONG

6/7/2021

All Glory, Honor, and Praise”  - The Story and the Song                                                              By                                               Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice

(Based on a testimony at a service celebrating deliverance from addiction) It was not to be your regular service that night at the little church. No, tonight’s service was a celebration, a tribute to God’s “amazing grace.” Person after person testified how the saving grace and power of Jesus Christ had freed them from a life of bondage and addiction. A person can be addicted to a variety of things. We typically think of drugs and alcohol, but before we meet Christ we are, if nothing else, slaves to satan and our own fallen nature. I was a slave to fear before God delivered me.

One testimony particularly struck me. It ended with words giving all the glory and honor to Jesus. As I heard these words, the Holy Spirit began to sing to my spirit. Here is the chorus of the song that came forth.

Key of F CHORUS:

All glory, honor and praise to Jesus, my Savior.

All glory, honor, and praise to Jesus, my Lord.

All glory, honor, and praise to Jesus, my Jesus.

All glory, honor, and praise to Jesus, my friend

This song is an excerpt from Making Melody in Your Heart unto the Lord: A Compilation  of Songs Given to Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice through the Holy Spirit.

The Vision on the Freeway and 'Glory be to the Lamb'”  - The Story and the Song

Bible Reading:  Acts 11:1 - 18

Today’s Bible story recounts the vision of Peter about the eating of unclean food and its subsequent fulfillment in the Gentiles being baptized with the Holy Ghost. Today’s story relates to a vision and a modern-day fulfillment.

Today’s Story: This experience took place during the period when we were at Faith Temple observing many miracles. Ty was asking the question of the Holy Spirit, “And what will our ministry be?” We were anxious to be participants in the mighty works of God and not just spectators.

Ty was on his way to work. This is how he describes what happened: I was driving on Highway 280 from San Jose when a screen like a TV screen dropped down in front of me. I was in a church, dressed in a white suit. A young man introduced me as his pastor. In the background, a song was being sung that had words and music I had never heard before. Betsy was playing. I called a woman forward to be prayed for. She had black hair that had been put up in a bun. She was suffering from blindness. As the Lord instructed, I asked her to blink her eyes seven times. On the seventh time, she was able to see. What an amazing miracle, just like in the Bible!

As I was on the cutoff between 280 and 101, I had my hands in the air, with tears streaming down my face. As I looked over, the man in the next car was “freaking out” at the sight. Finally, I was driving on 101, headed towards Mountain View, and the vision had ended. As I related the story to Betsy, she inquired about the song, and I said, like the king’s dream in the Bible, “The thing is gone from me.” Fast forward several years, and we were living in rural, northern California, pastoring our first church. Ty came home from work to find Betsy at the piano playing a new song the Lord had given her. Lo, and behold, it was the song Ty had heard in the vision.

You are Worthy to Receive” - The Story and the Song

6/28/2021

Bible Reading: Revelation 5: 9 - 12

Today’s Story: The Holy Spirit gave me this song as I was listening to a group of ministers discuss a passage from Revelation. As the Scripture was read, the words of the Bible seemed to sing themselves to me. The song that came forth was one of worship to the Lamb. It is based on Revelation 5:9 – 12.

Join me in Prayer Today: Lord Jesus, let us be so devoted to You that You can pour out Your Spirit upon us as You did on the Day of Pentecost. May we bring You glory.

“It’s All True” -The Story and the Song

7/5/2021
One day, I was reading the story in the Bible of Mary who anointed Jesus with costly ointment. She also washed his feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair, and kissed them repeatedly. (Matthew 26:6 -13, Mark 14:3 – 9, and Luke 7:36 – 50.) Jesus said at the end of the Matthew account, “Verily, I say unto you, ‘Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.’” In reading these words, I was awestruck by the realization that this Scripture was being fulfilled right before my very eyes as it had been for many others in the past and would be for countless others in the future. Out of that realization the song was birthed, “It’s All True.”

Verses 2 and 3 came from reading John 6:46 – 58, especially verse 58. In this verse Jesus says of Himself, “This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.”
It’s All True”

Key of C or D CHORUS:

It’s all true.  It’s all true.

The more we seek, we shall find that

It’s all true.

VERSE 1:

“Oh, Mary, Oh Mary, the thing that you have done,

Will be spoken of as a memorial where’er the Gospel shall come.”

And, yes, we know that…

CHORUS: VERSE 2:

The Children of Israel ate manna, and they died.

And then the true bread came from heaven, And gave eternal life.

And, yes, we know that…

CHORUS:

VERSE 3:

Oh, Jesus, Oh, Jesus, You are the bread of life,

And if a man will truly eat of You, He will never, never die.

And, yes, we know that…

CHORUS:

The Wall is Broken” – The Story and the Song

7/12/2021
In this song, the Holy Spirit puts together two passages of Scripture. The chorus refers to the Ephesians passage, while the verses tell the familiar story of the encounter between the Samaritan woman at the well and Jesus.

The God of Creation” – The Story and the Song

7/19/2021

Betsy's Deliverance From Fear

On a Wednesday night in December of 1980, Pastor Foreman was preaching on the Word of Knowledge. He reached out towards where I was sitting three rows back and said, “Come here, my sister, I would like to pray for you, and don't be afraid.”

I went forward, and he said, “You have a hunger for God.” (At this point I was thinking that he was going to say something about my not being saved.) He continued however, “Fear and feelings of inferiority have dominated your life, and, tonight, God is going to heal you of that fear.” He went on to say that I had sought my whole life for His assurance of my salvation, and the Lord wanted me to know this was the night of my assurance.

Pastor Kenny prayed over me in tongues. I felt a light, yet firm, pressure, as though someone was gently pushing me with two or three fingers, and I fell backwards to the floor under the power of the Holy Spirit. As the ushers assisted me, it felt like I was gently floating. The next day, I told Ty I was pretty sure that the preacher had pushed on my forehead, and that was why I fell over. He assured me that it had to be the touch of the Holy Spirit because Pastor Foreman had never even touched me.

As a result of my encounter with the Holy Spirit, I was assured of my salvation, delivered of my fears, and thrust into an exciting life with Jesus. Prior to that night, I was afraid to read the Bible. I saw condemnation to hell and/or prohibitions of any fun on every page. Philippians and Psalms were about all that I could handle. All of a sudden, I loved to read the Bible, and it began speaking to my heart, words of love and assurance. Then I began to hear from Him and write songs. The first song I ever wrote was called, “The God of Creation.”

This story is an excerpt from Eyewitness to His Majesty, a Weekly Devotional by Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice in collaboration with Bishop Ty Tice.

“The God of Creation”

(Psalms 34 and John 6:37)

By Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice

VERSE 1:   F

For years I felt like an orphan

Estranged from the family of God.

When people would say, “The Father loves you,”

I could only in suffering nod.

Then one day I called out to Jesus,

“Oh, Father, please hear my cry!”

And soon He brought an answer to me.

On His Spirit and Word I rely.

(CHORUS)      F

The God of Creation is waiting.

He wants to pour out His love.

“Him that cometh to Me, I will not cast out,”

Says my Jesus, Who’s reigning above.

VERSE 2:        F

“I sought the Lord,” said the Psalmist.

“He delivered me from all my fears.”

“I AM the Lord, and I change not,”

Has been true for thousands of years.

(CHORUS) F   Transition to Eb

The God of Creation is waiting.

He wants to pour out His love.

“Him that cometh to Me, I will not cast out,”

Says my Jesus, Who’s reigning above.

VERSE 2:    Eb

“I have already shown you I love you.

I died to set you free.

But if in your sorrow, My love you can’t feel,

” In My comfort, My love you will see.”

(CHORUS)  Eb

The God of Creation is waiting.

He wants to pour out His love.

“Him that cometh to Me, I will not cast out,”

Says my Jesus, Who’s reigning above.

Where is Your Garment?” – The Message and the Song

7/26/2021

Bible Reading: Matthew 22: 1 – 13, Matthew 27:31 – 46, Revelation 7:14, and John 14:6.

After the Lord delivered me from my fear, I began to read, love, and understand the Bible. Often, this has resulted in songs being brought forth. It is as if the Holy Spirit were singing phrases and Words based on a passage or my experience of closeness with Him.
Where Is Your Garment,” is based on the story Jesus tells in Matthew 22:1 -13 of the “wedding feast of the Son,” and His bride, the redeemed church. A man was excluded and cast out because he did not have on a “wedding garment.” It never says whether he was a good or a bad man, but his lack of a garment made him worthy only of eternal punishment. Dear Friend, do not put yourself in the position of that man. Accept the sacrifice of Jesus today and receive your wedding garment. (John 1: 12 and Romans 10:9, 10)

WHERE IS YOUR GARMENT”

By Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice Matthew 22:11-13, Matthew 27:31 – 46, Revelation 7:14, and John 14:6

Key of F

 CHORUS:

“Where is your garment?  Where is your garment?

What are these rags you have on?

Where is your garment?  Where is your garment?

The Time for acceptance is gone.”

VERSE 1:

One came to the wedding feast of the Son,

but he had not garments of white.

The King was so angry,

He said, “Cast him out Into darkness and eternal night.”

CHORUS:

VERSE 2:

“For you I suffered and hung on a tree,

forsaken by God for your sins.

That clothed in white raiment you too could be.

At the Lamb’s marriage supper go in.”

CHORUS:

VERSE 3:

“I poured out My lifeblood, so precious and true,

the price of a garment so fine

That My righteousness might be found in you.

Receive me today, ‘ere God Cry.

CHORUS:

 VERSE 4:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.

No one cometh to God but by Me.

” Garments washed in My blood are the only ones fit

For My Heavenly Father to see.

CHORUS:

LAST TIME THROUGH – “The time for acceptance is (has) come.”

Dear Friend, do not put yourself in the position of that man. Accept the sacrifice of Jesus today and receive your wedding garment. (John 1: 12 and Romans 10:9, 10)

I invite you to pray this prayer with me:

Dear Lord Jesus, I do not want to be like the man who had no wedding garment. I acknowledge my inability to provide one for myself. Please forgive my sins and wash me with your blood that I might have a robe of white and attend the marriage supper of the Lamb. I receive and confess you as my Lord and Savior and believe in my heart that God has raised You from the dead. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to walk in a way that will be pleasing to You for the rest of my days.
Thank you for receiving me into Your family as a new son (daughter) of God because I have believed IN THE NAME OF JESUS. I look forward to spending my life now and forever with You.

FROM the AUTHOR: Welcome to the Family of God. I look forward to seeing you at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

He's Waiting to Hear from His Sheep”

 -The Story and the Song

8/5/2021
It was a dark period in my life. It was at least a year after my surgery that I had expected would solve all of my problems and symptoms. While the surgery had been a success, there were still lingering issues. My doctor referred me to two specialists. After numerous tests, there was still no definitive answer. While the issue was not life-threatening, it was impairing my quality of life, and my doctor was not a very sympathetic one. I decided to abandon the effort to pursue a medical answer for awhile.

It was at this time that the Lord gave me this song. It has a universal application, so I trust it will be a blessing to you.

He’s Waiting to Hear From His Sheep”

(Psalm 121:4, Matthew 11:28-29, Psalm 62:8,  I Peter 5:7, Rev. 3:20, Rev. 5:8)

 by Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Tice

CHORUS 1:

The God of Israel does not slumber.  The God of Israel never sleeps.

So pour out your heartaches unto Him.  He’s waiting to hear from His sheep.

VERSE 1:

Sometimes the road seems so lonely, and feelings inside make you weep.

But Jesus is calling unto you, “I gave My life for My sheep.”

CHORUS 2:

Yes, Jesus is waiting to hear you, for you are one of His sheep.

Your prayers are to Him like sweet perfume. His thoughts are to you very deep.

VERSE 2:

Behold I stand at the door…of your heart. Oh, My child, can’t you hear?

Just open the door to My Spirit.  For you know, Perfect love casts out fear.”

CHORUS 3:

Yes, I am waiting to hear you, for you are one of My sheep.

Your prayers are to Me like sweet perfume.  My thoughts are to you of great peace.

VERSE 3:

Come unto Me, to the weary.  Come unto Me, to the weak.

Don’t carry your burden any longer.  It’s you I came here to seek.”

CHORUS 3   CHORUS 1

CHORUS of  “SEEK MY FACE”

Seek My face. Seek My face.

If you would partake of my grace.

Seek My face. Seek My face.

The answer will come, When you seek My face.

I’m waiting to hear from My sheep.”

I am Your Lamb” -The Story and the Song

8/12/2021

The Story: “I am Your Lamb” represents a response to the words of, “He's Waiting to Hear from His Sheep,” another song that the Holy Spirit gave me to write. As I read the Scriptures underneath the title, I was particularly impressed and inspired by the words in John where we read that He calls His sheep by name. He doesn't just call, “Here, sheep!” We are all special and beloved by Him. What a thought!

Betsy's Devotional Blessing 8/19/2021
Last week we posted "I am Your Lamb" which the Holy Spirit gave to me. A perfect sequel can be found in the verses and chorus of "Only Believe" by Paul Radar. Written in 1921, the beautiful words are timeless.
"Only Believe"
1. Fear not, little flock, from the cross to the throne,
From death into life He went for His own;
All power in earth, all power above,
Is given to Him for the flock of His love.
Refrain:
Only believe, only believe;
All things are possible, only believe;
Only believe, only believe;
All things are possible, only believe.
2. Fear not, little flock, He goeth ahead,
Your Shepherd selecteth the path you must tread;
The waters of Marah He’ll sweeten for thee,
He drank all the bitter in Gethsemane.
3. Fear not, little flock, whatever your lot,
He enters all rooms, “the doors being shut,”
He never forsakes; He never is gone,
So count on His presence in darkness and dawn.
Refrain:
Only believe, only believe;
All things are possible, only believe;
Only believe, only believe;
All things are possible, only believe.

"In Your Presence, O God” -The Story and the Song

Have you ever experienced the almost palpable presence of the Holy Spirit? There is a sweetness and a peace that defies description. Perhaps it was during an intense public or private time of worship in the midst of a group at an altar service. Perhaps it was at a time of being prayed over, receiving a Word from the Lord, or witnessing a healing. Maybe it was in an intense period of prayer for your needs or those of someone else. It is an incomparable experience to be in the presence of the Living God which creates a longing to dwell there. Out of this longing was birthed the song, “In Your Presence, O God.”“

“In Your Presence, O God” By Elizabeth C. Tice Psalms 91 and 119, Proverbs 18:24

 C

 VERSE 1:

In Your presence, O God, there is healing.

In Your presence, O God, sweet release.

In Your presence, O Lord, there is joy without end.

In Your presence, O Lord, there is peace.

CHORUS:

“Seek My Face” -The Story and the Song

The chorus of the song “In Your Presence, O God” expresses a desire to dwell in His presence. “Seek My Face” is His answer to that request. It is the second of three songs that I refer to as “The Presence Medley.” (See below.)

Seeking His Face involves both looking upon Him and having His favor by “doing those things that please Him,” as Jesus did.

“Seek My Face”

ByElizabeth C. Tice(Based on Psalm 27:8 and Acts 1-2:4)

CHORUS:

Seek My face.  Seek My face.

If you would partake of My grace.

Seek My face.  Seek My face.

The answer will come when you seek My face.

VERSE 1:“

He is gone,” His disciples said,

“Though we know He rose from the dead.”

“Now we’re alone.  What shall we do?”

“Wait and My Spirit will come to you.”

CHORUS:

VERSE 2

So they prayed in unity,

Trusting that soon His promise they’d see.

And when the time to receive had come,

Then came the Spirit with cloven tongues.

CHORUS:

VERSE 3:

Friend, have you reached the depths of despair,

Thinking that no one is left to care.

Turn to the One who died for you.

There is no limit to what He will do

CHORUS:

Seek My face.  Seek My face.  I

f you would partake of My grace.

Seek My face.  Seek My face.

The answer will come when you seek My face.

“We are Changed from Glory to Glory” -The Story and the Song

This is the third song in the Presence Medley which consists of “In Your Presence, O God,” “Seek My Face, and “We are Changed from Glory to Glory.”In writing the first song, I expressed my desire to dwell in the Lord's presence, as the times I had been there had been glorious. It was in these experiences that I had experienced heavenly peace and joy and seen salvation, healing, and miracles take place before my very eyes.

The Lord's answer is in the second song. “If you wish to dwell in My presence, you must  'Seek My Face.'” Seeking His Face entails worship and submission. As the familiar hymn expresses it, “Trust and Obey, for there's no other way. To be happy in Jesus. But to trust and obey.”Once we have done this, the benefit of the third song is realized. “We are changed from glory to glory as we look into Your face, and the world no longer holds us as we sing, 'Amazing Grace.'”

“We Are Changed From Glory to Glory”

And ‘though satan’s wrath still rages,

We are safe from all alarms

.VERSE 2:

We abide beneath Your shadow.

There no evil foe can harm us

As we gaze upon Your face.

VERSE3:

We have cast our cares on Jesus.

We are resting in His love.

Oh, the joy within His presence,

Seated with our Lord above.

CHORUS   (TO BE FOLLOWED BY “Amazing Grace”  by John Newton)

As we look into Your face,

And the world no longer holds us

As we sing, “Amazing Grace.”

“For the God of Today is the God of the Bible” -The Story and the Song

Pastor Ty and I were privileged to come into our own personal Pentecost in the 1980's at a place called Faith Temple in San Jose, California. There we saw, just as we had read in the Book of Acts, the Holy Spirit of God in full display with signs, wonders, and miracles. So inspired were we that it was our desire to go into full-time ministry with the expectation that signs, wonders, and miracles would follow. Since the Lord is no “respecter of persons,”  He honored our desire. In fact, our motto for our second church was “Where God's miracles are an everyday occurrence." We have recorded much of this in a free book called “Eyewitness to His Majesty,” available upon request. Throughout the country one could find many examples that duplicated our own. It was a “wave of healing.”

Those of us who were blessed to see and be a part of this movement have, in latter years, been sorely disappointed that this time has apparently passed, and the “wave of healing” seems to have vanished. This provides the motivation for the question posed in the song, “For the God of Today is the God of the Bible.” There is at least a partial answer in the song, as well.

Put your trust in Him, and you will see it

Come to pass through faith in His Name.

VERSE 1:

Where is the God, the God of Elijah?

Who called down fire from heaven above?

Where is the God Who parted the waters?

Who healed the sick through His great love?

VERSE 2:

Is He asleep or on a journey?

His arm so short that He cannot save?

No, He’s the same, today and forever,

His pow’r the same from day to day

“The God of Miracles is Here” -The Story and the Song

Those of us who were blessed to see and be a part of the miracle years of the seventies and eighties have, in latter years, been sorely disappointed that this time has apparently passed, and the “wave of healing” seems to have vanished. This provided the motivation for the question posed in the song, “For the God of Today is the God of the Bible.” There is at least a partial answer in that song, as well.

“The God of Miracles is Here,” naturally follows “For the God of Today is the God of the Bible.” It acknowledges a palpable presence of the Spirit of the Lord that is reminiscent of the ministry of Jesus at the healing of the lame man by the pool of Bethesda. Usually an angel “troubled the waters.” The first one to get in after that would be healed. Our poor man is this story had no one to put him in the pool, so Jesus's compassion intervened, and He was healed. I have often been comforted by that fact. If we don't have someone to put us in the pool, Jesus will still heal us.

I once recall a pastor during an altar service inviting people to come as “the waters were troubled.” That pastor had fasted and prayed for ten days for miracles. It is recorded that Jesus prayed all night to His Father. Pentecost was preceded by a ten day prayer meeting. To such an invitation, the Lord will come, and we will be able to sing “The God of miracles is here.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  “The God of Miracles Is Here”

“Just Consider it Done” -The Story and the SongAlthough

I have been a Christian for many years, I confess that I have spent a good deal of time worrying in the interim between the time a problem presented itself and the solution which the Lord inevitably provided. Even though I was praying, it was often accompanied by fretting. This, we know, is sin because as the Scripture says, “Be careful for nothing...” (See Philippians 4:6)  In addition, such fretting interferes with the happiness and joy available to the Christian and may even contribute to health issues.

In reading the story of the Mary's going to the tomb to anoint the Lord, I was struck by the fact that they, too, were worried by a problem that they faced. How would  they roll away the huge stone? In truth, it had already been rolled away, So they, like us, were worrying needlessly. Out of that story came a new verse to “Only Believe,” which I have shared in a previous devotion.

The Lord recently gave me another song on this theme. It's of a lighter nature, and, yet, it packs a wallop. I present it in the hope that it will be a blessing to all of us and a tool to help us replace fear with faith and worry with trust.

“A Horse, a Horse” - The Story and the Song

In Richard the Third, a play by William Shakespeare, the king cries, “A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse,” after he loses his horse in battle. David, the Psalmist, knew that God was his protector in battle, and that trust in the Almighty was his key to victory. Paul knew it, too, as he wrote in II Corinthians 10:4-5 (4) “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”Psalm 33:17 forms the basis for this song. In reading the Scripture, the verses often seem to sing themselves to me.

Sometimes Scriptures that I have previously read, do the same. Some of these verses are listed with the title. Lord willing, the following exhortation is applicable, Ephesians 5:18-19  (18)“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (19) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

SUGGESTIONS For the Worship Leader:GOOD SEQUELS – “I'm Living in the Kingdom”“I Don't Wanna' Stay Here Safe in the Boat. I Wanna' Walk on the Water with my Jesus”

“I Don't Wanna' Stay Here Safe in the Boat” - The Story and the Song

The subtitle of this song is “Peter's Song” because it is based on the story in the Bible of Peter walking on the water to, and presumably with, Jesus. (Matthew 14:22 – 33) When one reads the account. Peter, at the Lord's invitation is walking to Jesus. Here is the sequence of events:

1. Peter sees Jesus and asks Him to prove Himself by beckoning to Peter.

2. Jesus obliges, and Peter begins to walk to Him.

3. Peter sees the “boisterous” wind, becomes afraid, and begins to sink.

4. Peter calls out to Jesus, who grabs him by the hand and saves him, while asking him why he doubted.

5. They walk until they arrive at the ship. It's not much of a stretch to believe that they walked hand in hand.

That is the Biblical story. As I seem to recall, this song came to me while we were driving home from a spiritual retreat in a rainstorm. In any case, it expresses a desire on my part to be brave, like Peter, and do exploits for Jesus. As the Holy Spirit was giving me the words, there seemed to be a natural flow from walking to dancing. Is it not a reasonable desire for the bride to want to dance with her beloved bridegroom?

10/28/2021

“The Jonah Song” is based on the Book of Jonah in the Bible. Though it is often used as a children's story, there is much for all of us to learn. The story revolves around Jonah, who resisted the call of God to preach to Ninevah and fled in the opposite direction. Chapter one makes a big point of saying that Jonah was fleeing from the “presence of the Lord.” On his way in a ship going in the opposite direction to Tarshish, the Lord created such a tempest that eventually the sailors had to throw him overboard. Since he had told them about his God, when the winds ceased, they decided to fear the Lord, even making a sacrifice and vows. Even at this point, the Lord had used the adverse circumstances of the “reluctant evangelist” to win some souls to Himself. The Lord of the universe, being in charge, had “prepared a great fish,” to swallow Jonah. In the belly of the fish, Jonah cried out for deliverance, which the Lord granted him as the fish vomited him out. This time, when God called Jonah to preach to Ninevah, he obeyed. The people repented, from the king on down and God did not destroy them in forty days as he had promised to do. In the Word it says that He “...repented of the evil that He had said that He would do unto them; and He did it not.”You would think that Jonah would be elated, and, yet, he was not because God had granted the people of Ninevah mercy. Jonah was suicidal and pouting, so chapter four consists of an object lesson with a gourd. The book ends with the Lord sharing with Jonah why he had been merciful. Our Jonah experience came when Pastor Ty, discouraged with the lack of response of the congregation in one of his churches in Northern California, decided to close the church and become an evangelist. He purchased a blue bus that had been a city bus on the Azusa Street line in Los Angeles. (Not all signs are from the Lord). For weeks we and our associate pastor and his wife drove the bus to truck stops and out of the way small towns, hoping to evangelize the people for Jesus. Finally, after only one trucker showed up the whole time, he got the hint, and returned to being a pastor, his true calling, and the blessing of God. He has often referred to the bus as his “blue whale.”“The Jonah Song” (The Book of Jonah)By Elizabeth C. “Die to Self; Bring Forth Fruit”-The Story and the SongThe Story:

While reading on Facebook a poster with a quote by Elisabeth Elliot,  I  became inspired as the Lord brought a thought and a Scripture to me.Most people would consider it a tragedy that her missionary husband, a young man, full of faith and promise, was killed by the Aucas, a tribe of headhunters in South America. He and several others, including Elisabeth, had wanted to bring these people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Instead, not only did she continue to serve as a missionary to South America for many years, but also God used her to minister to and convert the tribe and inspire millions through her books and speaking engagements throughout the world. The Saint family who are related to Nate Saint, the missionary pilot who was also slain, still make missionary trips. This, I have personal knowledge of through a friend of mine who knows them.

Another example of great victory coming out of seeming tragedy involves  the words for the beautiful song, “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” I learned of this from a sermon preached by Pastor Uth of First Baptist in Orlando. The verses are the last words uttered by a martyr in India as his family was being killed before his eyes with him being the last. As a result, the chief who had ordered the deaths was converted, as well as the tribe, and the world has a song that has been sung by millions.

My last example was the girl martyred at the Columbine tragedy. I dare say her story has impacted many more than a long life, even one lived for the Lord, could have done.As often happens, the Holy Spirit brought a Scripture to my spirit, and I began to hear the music and words which I am blessed to share with you. The title is “Die to Self; Bring Forth Fruit.”

I pray that the Lord will use it to bless you and perhaps lend some comfort for those we seemingly lose too soon. For those of us who are left, I pray that it will inspire all of us to be like David, of whom the Lord said in Acts 13:22, “...I have found David, the son of Jesse,  a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.”

“Take Thy Cross and Follow Me” - The Story and the Song
The Story:
In John 21:18 – 22 Jesus is telling Peter about subsequent events that will happen to him, and that Peter's death would glorify God. (Historical accounts of Peter's death would seem to indicate that he was crucified upside down because he felt himself unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as his Lord.) Then Jesus told Peter to follow Him.

In this story Peter questions Jesus about the fate of John? Jesus told Peter that even if John were to stay on Earth until His return, that was no concern of Peter's. He was to follow Jesus.

“Am I Serving Jesus” - The Story and the Song

In Acts 9  we read the story of the conversion of Paul. As Jesus had predicted in Matthew 5:16, Paul thought he was serving God by killing Christians. After his conversion, Paul became a “chosen vessel” and was the “Apostle to the Gentiles.”

While it is highly unlikely that we will miss our calling as badly as Paul did before his conversion, we can still miss our call to be a “chosen vessel” for a particular task by choosing our own assignment instead of God's.

There is a post on social media of a turtle on a fence post. The question is always posed of how he got there. Obviously, he didn't get there by himself.

Let us follow Jesus so closely that we will shine forth for Him where He places us in the midst of a “crooked and perverse generation.”

“Let the Peace of God Rule in Your Heart" -The Story and the SongThe Story:

The conference was great; however, the sermon was rather boring. Fortunately, he had chosen an inspiring Scripture which the Holy Spirit was singing to my spirit.

The resulting song echoes the verse. There are two points that I would like to make about this. The verse uses the word “hearts” as it is  addressing a number of people. The song uses the word “heart” to show that the exhortation is to be taken individually and personally. God sees us and deals with us as his one, precious sheep.

The use of the word “let” speaks to me, as well. In other passages we are exhorted to “seek peace and pursue it.” Here, we are encouraged to allow that which God is trying to give us – His peace. Let's not fight His efforts. Let's embrace them.

“And He’s Working all Things for my Good,” Song, Sermon, and an “Open Vision”

The Bible Story: I Samuel 3 Today’s Bible reading tells the story of Samuel, a prophet of Israel, learning to hear the voice of the Lord as a child. In the days of the prophets, it was a rare event to hear the Word of the Lord directly from Him. As verse 1 said, “…And the Word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.” Usually, only the prophets heard from the Lord, and they communicated the Word to the people. In Acts 2, Peter explained that in “the last days,” more people would be able to hear and prophesy.

Our Story: Ty and Betsy had been going through a challenging time. Betsy had just had surgery, and, in addition, the Lord had directed them to close the work they had established in the North Valley to which they had devoted themselves. They were slated to attend the Northern California Conference camp meeting of their denomination, an annual event. At this time, the Holy Spirit gave Betsy a song based on Romans 8:28, “And He’s Working all Things for my Good.” At that time, it was a declaration of faith.

The time came for the camp meeting. When the speaker gave the message, guess what the topic was? God is working everything to accomplish His best in our lives. Truly, God is “no respecter of persons,” and we can all hear and speak His Word if we will listen. In addition, truly He is for us and not against us. CHORUS: And He’s Working All Things for my good. And He’s kept every promise, as I knew He would. Though the road may be long, and the pathway steep, He’s working all things for my good.” Verse to Ponder: I Samuel 3:19 Today’s Prayer: Lord, Jesus, Be with me, as You were with Samuel and let my Words be Your Words, as His were, so that they might not return to You empty, but will accomplish that for which You intended them. 12/16/2021“A Grateful Praise” -The Story and the SongThe Story: It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Pastor Gentry Mangun was preaching a message on having an “attitude of gratitude” from the Biblical account of the healing of the ten lepers in Luke 17, verses 11 -19. As he preached, one point struck me. These men were in need of total healing, not just healing from a physical disease. They needed a spiritual healing, as well.
As he preached, as is often the case when listening to a sermon, the Holy Spirit began to sing a song to my spirit. I ran to the keyboard to play and write what I was hearing. The result is “A Grateful Praise.” Pastor Ty was able to supply the title as I shared the song with him.
A careful reading of the story suggests several insights:All ten lepers were cleansed as they were on their way to follow the instructions of Jesus to go show themselves to the priests. Those of us who have seen people being healed have often heard the minister ask the person to “do something that you could not do before” as an act of faith.
The Scripture makes the point that the only one who gave thanks and glory to God was a Samaritan. Jesus made mention of that in questioning why he was the only one. The indication that he gave “glory to God”, as well as thanks, is another acknowledgment of Jesus's approval by God and His divinity.
The Samaritan was made whole from His “attitude of gratitude.”The others were cleansed. The Samaritan was “made whole.” Some have speculated that this means his limbs were restored unlike the others who were just cleansed. I would like to think that being made whole entailed a healing of body, soul, and spirit.A Grateful PraiseBy Elizabeth C. “God Gave Us A Sign” -The Story and the SongThe Story:

Pastor Andrew Cox was preaching a sermon entitled, “The Most Wonderful Gift,” about the coming of Jesus to Earth as a baby. One might think that the song the Lord gave me would be called, “God's Most Wonderful Gift.” The idea of the gift is included; however, the Lord initially impressed upon me the idea of the sign of the Baby lying in the manger which was given to the shepherds.

The Jews were accustomed to looking for signs as confirmation that something was of God. In Isaiah 7:10 – 16, the Lord instructed King Ahaz to ask for a sign. Even though he refused to ask, the Lord gave him a sign anyway, the prophecy of the “Virgin Birth,” and the indication that the child would be called “Immanuel,” which indicates that “God is with us.”

When one reads the story of the announcing to the shepherds of the birth by the angels, the angels were told, “ And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”(verse 12 of the story which is given in Matthew 2:8 – 20.)

The sign given to the Wise men was the star which they followed from first seeing it in their country in the East all the way to the house with the young child, Jesus and his mother. They fell down and worshiped Him and gave Him their gifts of gold, and frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:1 – 12)John 3:16 tells us of the “very best gift.” Romans 10:9 – 10 tells us how to receive the gift.

Romans 10:9-10  (KJV) 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

“He Came to Earth” -The Story and the Song

The Story: Pastor Anthony Mangun (now Bishop Mangun) was, as usual, preaching a fine sermon when, all of a sudden, he uttered a sentence, a Rhema Word, if you will, that stopped both my husband and I, dead in our tracks. When I heard the words, “He came to Earth to receive for Himself a bride.” Almost immediately the Holy Spirit started singing those words. Pastor Ty said that, for him, the Holy Spirit was more likely to turn the words into a sermon. We each have our gifts.

We are accustomed to Jesus coming to Earth to save us from our sins and enable us to go to Heaven. Somehow, even more arresting was the idea that He would come to Earth to find His bride. After all, He rules the entire Universe, it is amazing to think that the Earth would be a place for Him to choose a bride. I recall in the Old Testament that Abraham sent his servant into a far country to find a bride for Isaac. You can read the story in Genesis 24.

One other thought remains to be shared. In the chorus we find the lines, “I am His bride. I am His bride. The bride of Jesus Christ.” To put it in the singular might sound arrogant and presumptuous. We all know that we are collectively the bride of Christ. It takes all of us to be the “church,” the bride of Christ. Each of us can realize, however, that we are uniquely loved as if we were His only love. Jesus loved all of His disciples, and, yet John wrote of himself that he was, “the disciple that Jesus loved.” We are all special and beloved by Him. What a thought!

“You Are So Special to Him” -The Story and the Song The Story:

It was prayer time on the television program. Prefacing the prayer, the host impressed upon the listeners that God wanted to answer their prayers because, as He said, “You are so special to Him.” That line struck me forcefully, and the Holy Spirit brought forth a song entitled, “You Are So Special to Him.”

I remember the first time that I knew that I was “special” to Him. Through a Word of Knowledge given by Pastor Kenny Foreman and a subsequent prayer, the Lord delivered me from a spirit of fear and “feelings of inferiority.”

As I was recounting this to Ty's mom, she expressed the thought that God must really love me by calling me out from the congregation and ministering to me in that way. I began to realize that Jesus really did consider me “special.” Then I read in the book of John that Jesus called His disciples His friends. I was undone and sobbed like a child upon realizing that He considered me His friend, as well.

Jesus loved all of His disciples, and yet, John wrote of himself as, “the disciple that Jesus loved.” We are all special and beloved by Him. What a thought! It is my fervent prayer that the Lord grant to all of His Dear Ones, including the one reading this, the realization of this truth!

Isaiah 45:22 “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”

Exodus 15:26 “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Titus 2:14 “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

Isaiah 1:18 - 19 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

Acts 12:22 - 12:23

And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

“Puff, Puff, Puff, Puff” -The Story and the Song.

The Story: While reading the I Cor. 4:1-7 passage, the Lord began to sing this song to me. It begins with “Puff, Puff, Puff, Puff, it's God Who gave you your gift,” and ends with “So we'll glorify the Lord of Lords.”
Recently, I have been led to meditate on rewards, and the surprises that we will all undoubtedly receive when we get to heaven. Some of us will be pleasantly surprised, and others will be seriously disappointed, if they make heaven at all. I remember my husband being very disappointed when he purchased a filled bar from a bakery. It came as a shock when instead of the custard or cream filling, he encountered lemon in the middle. which was at odds with the chocolate on top. “UGH!” said his face. His words matched his face.
This reminds me of the passages of the rich man and Lazarus, the beggar, the separation of the sheep from the goats, and the poor widow who gave all her living, contrasted with the Pharisees who were so highly esteemed in their day. These are cautionary tales for us all. How many televangelists who were lauded on earth will even squeak in, much less, be way behind the faithful, unacknowledged “remnant”? Let us so live our lives as those that will hear the Master say, “...well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)

1 Corinthians 4:5-7
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?.
